Removal
- Remove the steering wheel (refer to procedure). Note: Ensure that the wheels are in the straight ahead position before removing the steering wheel.
- Remove the driver's side lower dash trim (refer to procedure).
- Release the clips (x2) that secure the steering column cover to
the instrument cluster bezel.
- Carefully rock the controller module 2-3 degrees back and forth
to break the bond between the module and the steering column.
- Release the steering controller module from the shaft.
- Remove and discard the airbag harness retaining clip from the steering column module harness connector.
- Disconnect the steering column module harness connector.
- Remove the steering control module from the vehicle.
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
Caution: Replace all nylon-insert locknuts.
Note: Clean the affected areas before installation.
- Replace the airbag harness retaining clip.
- Ensure that the pegs (x2) align with the slots in the
steering column.
Caution: Take care not to damage component(s).
- Use the Toolbox Power Steering (EPAS) Control panel to reflash the steering module.
Note: After recalibrating the power steering, drive the vehicle for a minimum of 5 minutes before returning the vehicle to the customer.
