Removal

Remove the driver's air bag (refer to procedure).
Position the wheels straight ahead. Mark the steering wheel relative position to the column.
Loosen the bolt that secures the steering wheel to the column (torque 80 Nm).
Note: Do not remove the bolt at this time.
Remove the steering wheel and bolt from the vehicle. Remove the bolt from the steering wheel assembly and discard. Caution: Do not turn the clock spring when removing the steering wheel.
Tape the clockspring cassette to prevent rotation.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Remove the tape from the clockspring cassette. Ensure that the spring loaded pin is in the clockspring slot when installing steering wheel.
Install a new mounting bolt.

Removal Remove the LH front door closeout panel (refer to procedure). Release the manual release cable from the front door interor release handle. Release the screws (x3) that secure the door latch to the door (torque 10 Nm).
