Tesla Model X: Calibration - Front Radar Sensor
Vertical Alignment

The front radar sensor is calibrated by adjusting the set screws
(x2) on the top of the radar sensor.
Note: Components have
been removed in this graphic to aid clarity.

Vertical Alignment
-
Inspect the bubble tool for damage.
Caution: Do not
perform this procedure with a damaged bubble tool.

Remove the front fascia assembly
(refer to procedure).
-
Perform a four wheel alignment
(refer to procedure).
Note: The vehicle
must be level when performing the vertical alignment
procedure. Do not remove the vehicle from the alignment
rack.
-
Clean the front of the radar sensor with water
and a clean shop towel.
-
Use the bubble tool to adjust the vertical
alignment of the radar sensor:
-
Gently support the bubble tool flat against
the upper center portion of the radar sensor face.
Caution: Do
not apply excessive pressure to the bubble tool; the
radar sensor might become misaligned.

Check the bubble on the long portion of the
bubble tool. The radar sensor is calibrated vertically if the
bubble is centered between the black lines.
Caution: The
bubble must be centered between the 2 black lines to
achieve the required calibration.
Tip: It might be
easier to see the bubble with a flashlight.

If necessary, adjust the vertical set
screw.
Note:
Components have been removed in this graphic to aid

Perform steps b and c as necessary until
the radar sensor is calibrated vertically.
Caution: Remove the adjustment screwdriver from the vertical
set screw while measuring with the bubble tool to
avoid misaligning the radar sensor.

Remove the vehicle from the alignment rack.
-
Reinstall the front fascia assembly.
-
Perform the "Horizontal Alignment" procedure.
Horizontal Alignment
Note: Perform the
"Vertical Alignment" procedure before performing the "Horizontal
Alignment" procedure.

Connect a laptop with Toolbox 2.0 or later to
the vehicle.
-
Perform the Radar Service Drive Alignment (SDA)
procedure:
Note: Bring the
adjustment screwdriver in the vehicle during the drive
cycle.
Note: The following
steps require an assistant.

Shift the vehicle into Park.
-
Select
Panels >
Driver Assist >
Radar Service Drive Alignment.
-
Click the
Start/Play button.
-
Follow the onscreen instructions.
Warning: Perform
the calibration procedure in a suitable location and
comply with all local traffic safety laws.

If Toolbox determines that the radar sensor
needs to be adjusted, adjust the horizontal set screw:

Remove the front apron
(refer to procedure).
-
Adjust the horizontal set screw as
necessary.
Tip: It
might be easier to locate the set screw using a
flashlight.
Note:

If the radar sensor was adjusted in the
previous step, perform steps 2 and 3 until Toolbox determines that
the radar sensor does not need to be adjusted.

Read DTCs:
-
In Toolbox, select Panels
> Alerts >
DTCs.
-
Ensure that the "Check all" box is checked.
-
Click Read DTCs.
-
Clear DTCs as necessary.
